DSS MC11 WEATHERPROOF SENSE MIC.

Our weatherproof DSS MC11 Sense Microphone (shown        opposite) can be set up in any environmentally sensitive listening area where there is a problem with ambient noise subway station, Bus Departure Terminal etc.

Find a position near a loudspeaker where the audio signal and background noise are representative of the listening area. This speaker becomes the 'dominant' loudspeaker. For normal ceiling speaker applications, the Mic. is typically spaced between 6ft from this loudspeaker.

Weatherproof  Sense Mic.

Install the Sense Mic. facing down towards the floor, first mounting the backbox to a flat surface. Using ONLY SHIELDED STEREO cable, connect the Mic. in the listening area to the DSS MC11 3 way terminal block marked PWR. GND. &  SIG.

BEFORE connecting the Mic to the DSS MC11 TURN OFF the amp. This will remove power to the DSS MC11

Connect Mic. and switch power back on.
If the LED on the Sense mic. does not come on, switch off the amplifier, disconnect the mic., check the wiring and connections and then reconnect. Turn the amp. back on.

Encapsulated Mic. & Cover

If the 'listening' area is of sufficient size that two Sense mics. would provide a more accurate 'picture' of fluctuating ambient noise levels, then two can be connected in parallel and connected to the Modules mic. input. The input signals will be averaged and this value used to determine the overall ambient noise level. This can be particularly useful on long Transit Platforms or in large Bus Terminals.
Note:  The Sense Mic. is omni-directional and provides a low impedance line level (amplified) signal over a frequency range of 20-16KHz. and has a N/S ratio >40dB.
The microphones printed circuit board has been fully encapsulated into the front cover and is mounted in a Nema 4X enclosure to provide a hermetically sealed device.
