Description
The SH-S8M weatherproof speaker provides clear audible output for voice paging and tone alerting. The speaker is fitted with an easy "wire-link" tap changing facility accessed by removal of the front speaker cover. A 1/2" NPT threaded cable entry gland is fitted to the weatherproof mounting box..
The SH-S8M incorporates a sealed back speaker constructed of a phenolic resin impregnated  cone that disperses the sound over an angle of 90 degrees. A fully rated in-line monitoring capacitor is fitted.
Speaker and back box have a white baked enamel finish to enhance appearance and durability and the speaker is supplied with an integral vandal resistant front cover grille and tamperproof fixing screws.
The speaker has a frequency response of 400Hz to 4KHz and provides a measured SPL of 84-102dB on axis, @1W @ 1kHz. Tap settings of 1/2, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 4 and 8 watts are available @ 70v input. The speaker also provides screw terminal inputs which accomodate 12-22 AWG wire allowing ease of in-out wiring.

Architects and Engineers Specifications

The speaker shall be a Minelec SH-S8-M or approved equal. The unit shall use a high efficiency design for maximum output at minimum wattage across a frequency range of 400 to 4000 Hz. Field selectable taps for 25 or 70vRMS operation shall be provided from 1/8W to 8Watts. Tap changes shall be field selectable via push-on connectors. The unit shall incorporate a suitably rated in-line monitoring capacitor. The white enamel coated speaker housing shall incorporate a vandal resistant, die cast grille and use tamperproof screws to attach to the optional surface mounted die cast weatherproof backbox. A 1/2"NPT pipe thread shall be fitted to the backbox for direct conduit entry. A sealed back 8WRMS phenolic resin cone speaker shall be used to provide extra protection and improved audibility. Sound pressure levels shall be 84dB to 102dB on axis @1W @1KHz with a sound dispersion of 90 degrees. Cable connections shall be via screw terminals that shall accommodate 12-22 AWG wire.
